How mystery shopping audits work

Four steps from “I think my team handles leads fine” to seeing, with the evidence, what happened to the last enquiry you paid for.

For service businesses that sell in English — across the US, the UK and Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the Gulf and beyond.

01Enquire

Our shopper contacts your business exactly like a real prospect — enquiry form, email enquiry, live chat, WhatsApp and phone call. Your team can't tell which one was us.

02Score

Every response is scored across nine criteria: speed, accuracy against your price list, follow-up, close attempt, tone, red flags.

03Report

A scored report with timestamped evidence lands in your portal — plain language, evidence-led, never accusations.

Review monitoring across platforms with alerts

04Monitor

Google, Trustpilot, Facebook, Clutch, Yell, Houzz, Sortlist, Sitejabber and any other review site we find — watched daily. Website uptime monitoring — checked every 5 minutes, alert within 10 minutes of an outage. Checks repeat at the frequency of your plan; negative reviews trigger an alert with a drafted reply.

Local detail

How it works where you are

The method is the same everywhere. These are the details we set for your market.

  • Written like a local customer

Enquiries in English, written the way a local customer would write them.

  • A local-format number

Forms and calls use a local-format number in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE, Singapore, India, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy.

  • Your business hours

Enquiries are spread over a few days, like a real customer’s, and live chat is tested on a weekday during business hours.

  • Your currency

Prices shown in your currency; you’re billed in US dollars.

  • Your review sites

Google, Trustpilot, Facebook, Clutch, Yell, Houzz, Sortlist, Sitejabber and any other review site we find — watched daily.

  • The rules

Fake reviews break consumer-protection law such as the US FTC’s fake-review rule and the UK’s Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. We never post, buy or solicit reviews, and every appeal cites the platform’s own rules.

In detail

The guardrails behind every mystery audit

  1. 01

    Authorisation

Before anything else, the business owner confirms a digital authorisation during enrolment — the legal foundation of legitimate mystery shopping. Our system blocks audit scheduling for any client without authorisation on file. From your portal you then add the correct prices, services and response expectations we score accuracy against.

  2. 02

    The secret shop

We build a realistic prospect persona for your vertical — a patient asking about implants, a homeowner with a leaking roof, a client with a custody question — and make contact through your real channels: enquiry form, email enquiry, live chat, WhatsApp and, on plans that include it, a phone call. We then track everything for 7 days: how fast the reply came, what was quoted, what questions were asked, whether anyone followed up, and whether anyone tried to close.

  3. 03

    Scoring & the report

Every exchange is scored 0–100 across nine criteria: response time, whether the channel answered at all, accuracy against your fact sheet, personalisation, qualification questions, follow-up cadence, close attempt, tone, and red flags — including data-leakage signals like your enquiry being answered from a personal phone or by an unauthorised third party. Every finding carries timestamped evidence. Language is strictly evidence-led: we report what the record shows, never accusations.

  4. 04

    Daily review monitoring

SalesWitness Watch and Watch Pro add continuous monitoring across Google, Trustpilot, Facebook, Clutch, Yell, Houzz, Sortlist, Sitejabber and any other review site we find. New negative reviews trigger an alert within hours, with two things attached: a policy-violation analysis (when a review breaks the platform's own rules, you get a step-by-step removal appeal path) and a drafted owner response — empathetic, de-escalating, no admissions of fault, marked 'review before use'. Secret shops then repeat at the frequency of your plan.
